The loftiest among them, a massive pyramid (Caana) capped by three temples and rises over 140 feet above the jungle floor.

Day 3Barton Creek – Cahal Pech

08:00 hrs. About 45 minutes from San Ignacio is an exciting canoe trip into a remote cave formerly used by the ancient Mayans as a burial site and for ceremonial purposes. A visit to Barton Creek Cave involves spending over an hour paddling canoes along an ancient Mayan waterway inside the mountain. Your guide will point out skulls and artifacts as you pass between stalactites. The cave is adorned with stalactites and stalagmites. Mayan pottery shards and bones can be observed by the guide’s spotlights.

Afternoon visit Cahal Pech Archaeological Site, it is small site and nearby in the vicinity of San Ignacio, known with its best feature of lots of shade trees which gives the environment an exclusive site and makes it a cool day.

Upon arrival to the site we will start the archaeological exploration in one of the oldest Mayan ruins on the planet, vivid with a contrast between the town and the jungle that makes your journey an idle experience while you enter in an atmosphere where life remains in its natural state and antique monuments become the silent testimony of a dynamic civilization that once existed.

    Day 4Xunantunich – Hopkins

Today, visit Xunantunich Archaeological Site, which is located across the green crystalline waters of the Mopan River; it’s the largest ceremonial center in the Belize River Valley, located on a natural limestone ridge providing a fantastic panoramic scene of the surrounding of the country from its hilltop location.

Enjoy a tour through one of the most important sites in Belize, dating with an essentially classic period ceremonial centre with three ceremonial plazas enclosed by house mounds, pyramids, and palaces, the largest decorated castle with stucco friezes and masks of Classic style.

After tour, unguided transfer to Hopkins area.

This site, situated along the New River Lagoon, features monumental architecture of temples and palaces dating from the Classic and PreClassic Periods. The central area of the site covers approximately half a square mile.
