    There are some family resorts in all the main tourist destinations within Guatemala city. These properties are close to the international airport, making them affordable for families with children who don’t like to travel far to reach a hotel.

    Taking the family to the Choco Museo must be one of the places to visit. In this exciting museum, adults and children are taught the art of making chocolate, which is an excellent way to bond with your family. You will also keep all the chocolate the family made as a souvenir.

    You can also go on a nature hike at Lake Atitlán to experience the fantastic views of the volcanoes. Finally, walks around the lake searching for the Resplendent Quetzal and other birds in their natural habitats. A tour of Lake Atitlan will give your children a greater appreciation for nature and wildlife.

    Visiting Tikal National Park will be a unique experience, a destination that combines nature, Maya history, and archaeology.     Day 1Arrival – Antigua Guatemala

    Meet and greet at La Aurora International Airport and transfer to the City of Antigua Guatemala, (1 hour).

    Day 2Nature HIke & Antigua Cultural Tour

    We start the adventure with our nature tour in El Pilar Reserve, located just 5 minutes outside of the center of Antigua Guatemala. Here we will have an encounter with birds and butterflies while hiking through an old coffee plantation, and wooden stairways under the pine-oak forest of the reserve where we learn about the birds of Guatemala.

    After this adventure tour, we will head towards the center of Antigua Guatemala where we will experience and discover all about the Chocolate, and also you will have time to prepare your own chocolate, this is a good activity that everybody will enjoy.

    Afterwards, we are going to taste the Guatemalan food visiting one of the traditional restaurants in the heart of Antigua Guatemala.

    After Lunch break is time to start with our cultural walking tour visiting churches, ruins, galleries, and markets of this colonial jewel declared by UNESCO as a World Heritage Cultural Site.

    Day 3Pacaya Volcano Hiking

    After breakfast, we will head towards one of the three actives volcanoes in Guatemala, The Pacaya volcano, located about one hour from Antigua Guatemala.

    At our arrival at the park entrance is possible to hire a horse, if not we will start whit our three hours volcano hiking adventure, during the hike the landscape will offer a pictures opportunity.

    We will arrive at a place known as Cerro del Chino (the Chinese hill) from where we will observe the highest part of the volcano.

    Time to return to the entrance to board our transport towards Antigua

    Day 4Chichicastenango Market – Lake Atitlan

    After breakfast, we are going to be transported to the holy city of Chichicastenango where every Thursday and Sunday an ethnic and millenarian market comes alive.

    The syncretism produced by the Maya believes, and Catholicism is present in the atmosphere inside and outside of the Cathedral of Santo Tomas. Flowers, Shamans, and believers are part of the ceremonies performed on the stairways at the main entrance of this sacred place.

    Just in front and around of the cathedral the vendors offer a wide variety of handicrafts and colorful textiles, this is a great destination to buy some souvenirs to bring back home.

    After lunch, we will visit the cemetery; National Geographic declared this cemetery as the most colorful of the world. Also here is possible to observe some ceremonies. Then we continue on a short hike to visit a sacred hill known as Pascual Abaj; this is a place where the quiche people come to celebrate rituals and ceremonies. On route, we also will attend a masks factory and a museum.

    After this fantastic experience, we will head to our lodge in Lake Atitlan.

    Day 5Biking – Village Tour – Boat Ride

    Today is time to enjoy physical and cultural activities. After breakfast, we will start our adventure trip around Lake Atitlan.

    A short boat ride will take you to Tzununa village, from where we start our 3 hours biking tour, through the corn, tomatoes and onion fields, and the towns of San Marcos, San Pablo, arriving in San Juan for lunch. A scenery during the biking experience is fantastic.

    After lunch, our cultural tour begins, visiting the famous textiles factories where you learn about the natural processes of the particular back loom weaving style. Also, we will visit a project and garden of natural medicines production and famous naif painters.

    Then time to discover Santiago Atitlan, the market, the Catholic church and the pagan Mayan god known as a Maximon.

    After this adventure and cultural tour, we are going to take a boat ride back to your hotel.

    Day 6Kayaking - Tikal National Park

    This morning you will have an optional activity, enjoy a kayaking or visit the butterfly farm before to be transferred towards the La Aurora international airport to take a 45 minutes flight to the Mundo Maya international airport.

    At our arrival, the Martsam travel staff will greet and meet you before to take an hour transfer to Tikal national park.

    Day 7Tikal - Guatemala City

    The Tikal trip is a unique experience in the heart of the Mayan World.

    This World Heritage destination is one of the main sites of the Mayan civilization that remains in the middle of the rainforest of Guatemala, surrounded by lush vegetation, inhabited from the sixth century B.C. to the tenth century A.D.

    The archaeological tour in Tikal is a journey through time and history; we will visit the central plaza that includes outstanding temples I & II, north and central acropolis, the lost world complex, temple III, temple V, and the highest temple in the site temple IV.

    With 64 meters of elevation, this temple offers one of the best views of the green jungle that is part of a One a half million hectares of tropical forest known as The Mayan Biosphere.

    Besides the historical and cultural component of this family trip, are the natural treasures including a millenarian forest that inhabit neotropical fauna such as howler and spider monkeys, colorful birds, insects, reptiles, mammal and much more, that will improve your family vacation in Guatemala.

    Time to go to the Mundo Maya International airport to take a short flight to Guatemala City.

    Day 8Back Home

    Transfer to the International airport.
