Day 1: Tuxtla Guitierrez – Cañon del Sumidero – Chiapas de Corzo – San Cristobal de Las Casas

Meet and greet at Tuxtla Airport and move to dock for touring in a boat through the cañon del Sumidero, one of the most spectacular natural reserves in Mexico; it is a geological failure formed 36 million years ago with walls of Calcarea type elevating to more than 1,000 m., caves and cascades among which it is the “Christmas Tree,” a rocky structure. Before the end of the tour, you will visit Chiapa de Corzo, a town that was the first settlement founded by the Spaniards with its Mudejar fountain, known as “La Pila,” built in the XVI century; it is a sample of the colonial architecture with an Arabic influence. After visiting Chiapas de Corzo, you will continue to your San Cristobal de las Casas hotel.

Day 2: San Juan Chamula – Zinacatan – San Cristobal de Las Casas

Visit on foot the city of San Cristobal, market of fruit and vegetables, handcrafts market, the churches of Santo Domingo, and the Cathedral; then, in a van, move to the Tzotzil community of San Juan Chamula, famous because of its traditions and festivities, it is one of the most enigmatic churches in the country in its interior, the Chamulas participate in syncretic rituals creating a magic atmosphere. Then, they move to Zinacantan, another Tzotzil community; its temple is from the colonial age, though redecorated as neoclassic in the XIX century. It is possible to appreciate the peculiar mixture of catholic andefs in its interior indigenous beli. Most of the Zinacantecos cultivate flowers whose colors remind us of the color of their customs.

Day 3: Chicultic – Amatenango – Montebello – San Cristobal de Las Casas

Departure from San Cristobal via Comitan de Dominguez, visiting Chicultic; this is a fascinating archeological Mayan site that adds spectacularity to the location dominating the lakes zone and the broad Comtecos valleys. Then, visit five of the 56 Montebello lagoons, famous for the different colors to the type of underwater ground, vegetation, water du, and refraction of light. On the way back, visit the pottery community of Amatenango Del Valle, famous for the handmade crafts of clay fired in an open wooden oven.

Day 4: San Cristobal – Agua Azul – Palenque

Departure from the hotel to Palenque; on the way, we will have a technical stop before getting to Ocosingo. Then, we will visit the Agua Azul Cascades rapids, falling rapids, and backwaters of the Tulija River; the river’s beauty, its shining turquoise color, will captivate you. The tour ends at a hotel in Palenque.

Day 5: Bonampak – Yaxchilan – Palenque

06:00 AM Departure from the hotel in Palenque; excursion all day long to visit the archeological zone of Bonampak, a mysterious archeological site with the finest murals found until now, where it represents scenes of war, sacrifices, and celebrations. Move to Frontera Corozal to take a boat along the Usumacinta River, where you can see spider monkeys, crocodiles, and tropical birds, looking on one side at the Peten Jungle and on the other side at the Lacandon Jungle. Arrival in the archeological zone of Yaxchilan, an important Mayan city, sunk in the jungle, and the main structure of this site is in temple 33. Afternoon back to the hotel in Palenque.

Day 6: Palenque Archeological Zone – Villa Hermosa or Campeche

Visit the archeological zone of Palenque is one of the most remarkable Mayan cities because of its beautiful sculptural art and important architecture in the middle of the green jungle. At the end of our tour, we will transfer you to Villahermosa airport to take a flight for the next tour or move to a hotel in Campeche.
