The ancient city of Tikal is in the north of Guatemala, the center of the department of Petén. It is known as the “Place of Voices.” Time has immortalized this Mayan site as a religious and cultural center, transmitting the messages of the ancient Mayans through the hieroglyphics carved in limestone, the unique architecture, and the remains of colored pottery.

Tikal Mayan Site was declared as a National Park In 1955. It later acquired the rank of National Monument for its extraordinary cultural richness and the immense variety of species of flora and fauna.

Following these parameters, UNESCO named Tikal Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 1979. Later it was assigned the category of a nuclear area within the Maya Biosphere Reserve, the largest protected reserve of northern Guatemala confined to protecting nature and other archaeological centers of the Mayan culture.

The National Park is 576 sq. km and contains over 3000 structures spread around different plazas like the Acropolis, ceremonial temples, residences, ball courts and astronomical complexes. The natural surroundings of the Maya city are a laboratory of fauna and flora which is a perfect proof of a humid subtropical forest.

In this tour, you will be guided along the paths of the most important city in the Mayan world. Abundant wildlife, the Mayan forest, temples millennial silent witness of the birth and splendor as well as of the collapse of one of the most important civilizations on the planet.
