9-Day Belize Adventure Tour Itinerary
This itinerary brings together inland adventure, Maya archaeology and time on the Caribbean coast. It begins in Cayo with ATM Cave, Caracol and rainforest activities before continuing to Placencia. We can adjust the hotels, experiences and daily pace around your interests, travel dates and comfort level.
Day 1 – Arrival in Belize and Private Transfer to Cayo
Meet your private driver upon arrival in Belize and continue west to the Cayo District. After checking into your hotel, enjoy the remainder of the day at your own pace. Your inland stay provides a convenient base for the caves, rainforest and Maya sites included in the days ahead.
Day 2 – Actun Tunichil Muknal Cave
Travel with your guide to Actun Tunichil Muknal, commonly known as ATM Cave. The experience includes a forest walk, river crossings, swimming and movement through the cave’s chambers.
Inside, archaeological remains reveal how the ancient Maya used this cave for ceremonies and offerings. Your guide provides historical context while helping you move safely through the protected site.
ATM Cave is physically demanding and requires secure footwear. Cameras and phones are not permitted inside. Access depends on current weather, river levels and official safety conditions.
Day 3 – Caracol Maya Site and Rio On Pools
Travel through the Mountain Pine Ridge area to Caracol, one of Belize’s most significant ancient Maya cities. Explore its plazas, temples and residential complexes with your private guide.
The visit provides insight into Caracol’s political influence and its connections with other cities throughout the Maya world. You will also see Caana, the monumental complex that rises above the surrounding rainforest.
After the archaeological visit, continue to Rio On Pools for time beside its natural granite pools and cascades. Swimming depends on weather, water levels and local safety conditions.
Day 4 – Jungle ATV Adventure
Travel to the starting point for a guided ATV experience through Belize’s tropical landscape. After a safety briefing, follow forest trails with your guide and enjoy a different view of the Cayo countryside.
The route and duration may change according to weather and trail conditions. Participation requirements, including minimum age and driving eligibility, will be confirmed before the journey.
Day 5 – St. Herman’s Blue Hole and Transfer to Placencia
Leave the Cayo District and travel toward Belize’s Caribbean coast. Along the way, visit St. Herman’s Blue Hole National Park for a walk through the tropical forest.
Depending on conditions and your preferred pace, enjoy time near the park’s inland blue pool before continuing south. Arrive in Placencia and settle into your coastal hotel for the next stage of the journey.
Swimming and park activities depend on weather, water levels and current safety conditions.
Days 6–8 – Placencia and the Caribbean Coast
These days are intentionally flexible, allowing you to enjoy Placencia at your own pace. Spend time beside the Caribbean, explore the village or relax at your hotel.
Optional experiences may include kayaking, snorkeling, a Monkey River nature excursion or a visit to Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary. We will recommend activities according to your interests, the season and current conditions.
Marine and wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed. Optional excursions are included only when confirmed in your personal itinerary and proposal.
Day 9 – Departure from Placencia
Enjoy your final morning in Placencia before beginning the journey home. At the appropriate time, transfer to the airport for your onward flight.
The departure arrangement may use a private road transfer or a domestic flight connection. The best option will depend on your international flight schedule and confirmed travel plan.

Frequently Asked Questions About This Belize Adventure Tour
What is included in this 9-day Belize adventure tour?
Your private tour can include accommodations, ground transportation, local guides, entrance fees and the activities confirmed in your itinerary. Your personal proposal clearly identifies included meals, optional excursions, domestic flights and expenses paid separately.
How physically demanding is this Belize adventure tour?
The itinerary includes active experiences, particularly ATM Cave, which requires walking, swimming, river crossings and movement through cave chambers. The Caracol visit also involves uneven surfaces and steps.
We can adjust other activities and the overall pace, but ATM Cave may not suit every traveler.
Can this Belize adventure itinerary be customized?
Yes. This is a private journey rather than a fixed departure. We can adjust the hotels, daily pace and activities around your interests, travel dates and comfort level.
The Placencia stay can also include more time to relax or additional nature and marine experiences.
What is the best time for a Belize adventure tour?
December through April generally brings drier weather and more reliable conditions for inland and coastal activities. These months are also popular, so early planning is helpful.
Travel remains possible during other periods, although rain may affect caves, forest trails, road access and marine excursions.
Is Belize safe for a private adventure tour?
No destination is free from risk. Martsam arranges private transportation, selected routes, suitable hotels and local support throughout the journey. However, these arrangements cannot remove every risk.
Before traveling, review the latest Belize Travel Advisory or guidance issued by the relevant authority in your country
Is this Belize adventure tour suitable for families?
It can work well for active families, but suitability depends on each child’s age, confidence and physical ability. ATM Cave and the ATV experience may have participation restrictions.
We review these requirements before confirming the itinerary and can recommend alternatives when an activity does not suit everyone traveling.
What happens if weather affects one of the activities?
Safety comes first. Heavy rain, high river levels or rough sea conditions may affect caves, trails, swimming and coastal excursions.
When an activity cannot operate safely, our local team will discuss the most suitable available alternative. Any change will depend on current conditions, availability and the services included in your proposal.
How much does a private Belize adventure tour cost?
The price depends on your travel dates, group size, hotels, transportation and selected activities. Coastal excursions and domestic flight connections also affect the final cost.
Once we understand your plans, Martsam prepares a personal proposal with the complete price and clearly stated inclusions.
What should I pack for the adventure activities?
Bring lightweight clothing, swimwear, secure water shoes, sun protection, insect repellent and a reusable water bottle. ATM Cave requires suitable footwear, and cameras or phones cannot enter the cave.
Your final travel information will include activity-specific recommendations based on the confirmed itinerary and season.
Can this Belize adventure tour be combined with Guatemala?
Yes. The journey can begin in Guatemala with Antigua, Lake Atitlán, Tikal or Yaxhá before continuing into Belize. A balanced two-country itinerary generally needs about 12 to 14 days.
