Our family’s roots are in Guatemala, where Martsam began in 1994. The relationships we have developed over decades of living and working here shape the journeys we create today.
That experience becomes something personal to you. A love of textiles might shape an afternoon with an artist, followed by dinner and an evening to yourselves. An interest in wildlife could take you into the forest with a guide who knows its birds by their calls. For a family gathering, we consider the pleasures of being together alongside everyone’s need for space.
We recommend places to stay with the same attention: the room, its outlook, the welcome, and how much time you will actually have to enjoy it. Private flights, secluded properties, and specialist encounters become part of the plans where they serve your wishes.

How do you protect our time while traveling?
We look at the journey as a whole — road time, flights, border crossings and hotel changes. Sometimes a private flight is worth it. Sometimes it is not. We choose what makes the journey flow better.
How do you choose the right hotel and room?
We look beyond the hotel name. The room, view, privacy, service, location and how the property fits the journey all matter.
When is a specialist guide or private access worth it?
When it genuinely changes the experience. The right archaeologist, naturalist or art specialist can add depth that a standard visit cannot.
Can Guatemala, Belize and Mexico be combined without rushing?
Yes, if the route and number of days make sense. Sometimes three countries work beautifully. Sometimes two, with more time in each, is the better journey.
How flexible can the journey be once we are traveling?
Very flexible where arrangements allow. If you want to slow down, change the focus of a day, or conditions shift, our local teams can adjust the plan.
